Saibatu Mansaray

Saibatu Mansaray is a women’s empowerment devotee, medical practitioner and decorated retired United States Army officer. Her 26 year span of experience ranges from executive and organizational leadership both within the military and at the White House, developing and implementing health policy and humanitarian efforts, executive medical planning, international diplomacy and protocol in support of United States presidential and vice presidential foreign visits in 45 countries, strategy development, operations planning and execution, briefing high level United States government officials and public speaking. As the former senior executive and Assistant Director for Public Health at the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) she also served as the United States Demand Reduction Coordinator. She was responsible for establishing ONDCP’s public health response to America’s addiction crisis, and provided strategic guidance to lead the interagency efforts on the public health responsibilities in the President’s National Drug Control Strategy. Under her leadership, the public health team developed the very first National Treatment Plan to address the treatment gap in the substance use disorder population. Prior to joining ONDCP, she served as the Director of Advance for Vice President Mike Pence where she was the linchpin of the vice president’s operations team and developed the strategy and execution for all foreign and domestic visits. Ms. Mansaray served 23 years in the United States Army and did two tours to Iraq. She was the first woman to be assigned to the White House by the Army to serve as a White House Physician Assistant and Tactical Medical Officer to President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden. After 3 years of executive medical planning and execution, she was subsequently appointed as the Director of Medical Advance and Operations for the White House Medical Unit. Her final military assignment was as the senior military aide to the Vice President of the United States. She is the first and only medical officer to serve as a military aide in the White House. Ms. Mansaray has a Master’s of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from University of Nebraska Medical Center and is currently a candidate for a Master’s in International Service with American University. She is a recipient of numerous military awards including two Bronze Star Medals and two Defense Meritorious Service Medals. Her long-standing passion is to address and combat Sierra Leone’s maternal mortality crisis, work tirelessly on African women’s empowerment efforts and spearhead development and investment opportunities for Mother Africa.

Prior to this, Dona focused her career on developing trust & safety policies and optimizing organizational processes. After joining Google in 2014, she worked on creating & operationalizing industry-leading policies to tackle complex legal and regulatory challenges (including EU data protection, counter-terrorism, child safety, etc.). She went on to co-develop a program supporting product teams across Google in mitigating abuse-related risks and integrating with proper anti-abuse fighting systems ahead of launch. Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah

Dr Mohamed Kamara

Dr Kamara is a Specialist Physician Trainee, public health expert and clinical tutor with 8 years’ experience working in the medical practice industry. Dr Kamara is a fully registered practitioner with the General Medical Council (UK), a member of the Royal Society of Medicine, Royal College of Physician, Royal Society of Public Health (UK), the British Medical Association and the Sierra Leone Medical and Dental Association.

He has an insatiable appetite for academic and clinical excellence as exemplified by his active participation in the recruitment, randomization, management and data collection in the ongoing RECOVERY trial for Covid-19 therapeutics in the UK. He worked briefly as a Clinical Research scholar at the Jamaica Hospital Medical centre in Queens, New York.

Dr Kamara demonstrated an early commitment in moulding the future of health care provision in Sierra Leone by volunteering his service as a Tutorial Facilitator for 3 years while he was a medical student. Upon graduation from medical school, he was recruited by the University of Sierra Leone as a Demonstrator in the department of physiology for 3 years. He became a Lecturer with the department of Public health (University of Sierra Leone) upon completion of his Masters training at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.  During these periods, he provided tutelage for hundreds of medical, pharmacy and nursing students and also supervised the summer projects (dissertation) of a few. He also served as a Medical Officer with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone providing clinical care for underserved communities in the Koinadugu District.

Dr Kamara is experienced in managing infectious disease outbreak as demonstrated by his previous role (Surveillance Programme Officer) with the World Health Organization’s Ebola Response in Sierra Leone and currently as a Specialist Physician Trainee working in a Covid-19 Intensive Care Unit at the East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, United Kingdom. In 2019, he co-authored and presented a case report on Idiopathic Hypercalcaemia at the Intensive Care Society conference held in Birmingham, UK.

Dr Hindolo George-Williams

Dr Hindolo George-Williams is a Lecturer in Energy Engineering at the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development of De Montfort University in the United Kingdom. He is a former Commonwealth scholar and holds a dual PhD in Risk & Uncertainty Engineering from the University of Liverpool and Nuclear Engineering from the National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. Previously, he was a Postdoctoral Researcher in Energy Systems at the University of Oxford, where he was recognised as 1 of 100 black researchers, for academic excellence in the history of the university – as part of the university’s 2020 Black History Month celebrations.

Dr George-Williams is a founding member of the Sierra Leone Association of Young Engineers and he has mentored many young engineers. He looks forward to mentoring students and early career professionals from a STEM background who are willing to put in the extra work.

Sharron Kelliher

Sharron Kelliher is a leader with twenty years’ experience in the private sector and over a decade in fieldwork, research and private sector development for positive peace. Based on her proven track record in marketing, strategy, programme design and evaluation across public, private and the nonprofit sectors, Sharron collaborated for many years’ with the private sector in West Africa. 

While working with SMEs across a wide range of sectors along both supply and value chains, Sharron developed a strong understanding of the potential and challenges for West Africa’s private sector. Sharron is also a trained mediator and negotiator and intends to integrate these skills and her awareness of wider conflict and development issues with her grounded experience in supporting entrepreneurship. Her research focus on private sector development for peace is intended to help impact changes in levels of understanding, knowledge and attitudes as well as instrumentalising her research to change practice and policymaking.

Memuna Forna

Writer, Publisher, Speaker and Consultant

Memuna Forna is a Sierra Leonean writer, publisher, campaigner, public speaker and communications consultant. In 2015, she launched the Invest Sierra Leone series of investment forums, which brought international investors together with Sierra Leonean businesses; and founded Insight, Sierra Leone’s first business and investment publication.

She started her career as a journalist in the UK, before moving into communications. Her career includes leading communications for a number of high-profile organisations, among them – Management Today, the National Portrait Gallery and the Work Foundation – which was described by the Guardian newspaper as the UK’s best-known think tank.  She has worked with private and public sector leaders at the highest level, in both the UK and in Sierra Leone.

During the Ebola outbreak in Sierra Leone, a collaboration with the Irish Ambassador to boost the local private sector by linking humanitarian agencies with local suppliers resulted in a successful private sector/humanitarian agency matchmaking scheme. This culminated in a national business expo, which was launched by Chief Executive Officer of the National Ebola Response Centre, Rtd. Major Alfred Palo Conteh.

Memuna has written numerous articles on a range of issues for publications within Sierra Leone and internationally, and speaks on subjects including women’s empowerment, the creative industries and emerging market communications. As the mother of a child with severe learning difficulties, she is passionate about inclusion and worked with special needs children for several years. 

Bianca Bonetti

She is part of the Italian National Speed Ski Team, and vice world champion in the world in 2017, with a record speed of 167kph.
After graduating from university with a degree in Mathematics, she was Head of Innovation at BHeroes, the most important Italian Accelerator and Entrepreneurship TV show.

She joined Seedstars two years ago, producing the first documentary about Emerging Market Entrepreneurs. She moved to Africa where she was heading Incubation programs with local governments. She is now Continuous Improvement Lead, always looking to improve processes and find better solutions, to better help the entrepreneurs in the network to grow and access fundings.
